We travel to the growing regions ourselves — walking the fields, sitting in the rolling rooms, smoking blend after blend — to find the cigars worth your time.
Traceability is not a certificate in a drawer. It means someone from our team stood in that field, watched those leaves come down from the barn, and smoked the finished cigar more than once before we ever wrote a word about it.
On every expedition we visit farms and workshops, cup dozens of blends on site, and bring back only the ones that survive our blind panel. Anything we list, we have tasted at the source.
From arrival at the region to the cigars that make it back to the humidor.
We land in the growing valley and spend the first days with growers, not salesmen — soil, altitude, seed stock and this season's weather.
Through the curing barns and fermentation piles, checking leaf by priming and smelling where the sweetness is forming.
We sit in the rolling room and smoke trial blends straight off the table, often unbanded, comparing wrapper and filler combinations.
Samples that survive the trip go to our three-taster blind panel, scored on construction, burn, flavour, balance and finish.
Only cigars that clear the panel and pass moisture and draw checks get listed. Everything else is left behind with an honest note.
Every cigar we keep is logged with farm, roller, fermentation and ageing data, then stored in our Hong Kong bonded warehouse.
Different soils and altitudes write different characters. These are the origins behind the cigars in our reviews.
